October Shopping and your guide to giving back

As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I wanted to highlight some of my favorite pink-powered products, but more importantly, let’s take a moment to reflect on those currently battling breast cancer, their families, those we've lost, and the many ways we can give back to support those in need. As the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) reminds us, the earlier we act, the bigger our impact.
Gift Guide: Better Homes & Gardens Magazine
My mom gifted this to me years ago, and I love it. This magazine covers all the essentials: Decor, Pets, Gardening, Recipes. It’s a one-stop shop for all things homey. I also love Stephen Orr’s insightful editorials. His inspiring messages offer a refreshing break from the daily grind, encouraging readers to think creatively and pursue new projects without fear. Whether it’s adding a pop of color to that room you’ve been dreaming to redecorate or escaping to the kitchen to experiment with new recipes, this magazine provides a wealth of ideas. I genuinely look forward to receiving my magazine every month. As the holidays approach and you’re looking for a gift for your home-loving friends, this is it. Trust me, they’ll be thanking you all year long.
POLYTE Microfiber Lint Free Washcloth Face Towel, 13 x 13 in, 4 Pack (Pink, Waffle Weave): $12
Yet another waffle win! The waffle kick is still going strong. I can't explain why, but I just love it. Maybe because my robes are so comfortable, I figured why not buy face towels that provide that same feeling every time I cleanse? These are so great. They are absorbent, soft, and pink! Plus, they won't break the bank. They're a nice way to add a pop of color to your daily routine.
Kiehl's Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter: $55.00
I was stuck at the airport waiting for my flight when I stumbled across a Kiehl's shop. Naturally, I stopped, turned around and starting sampling. One of the products I sampled was this body butter. Let me tell you, it's a game-changer. It's like a cloud on your skin, silky smooth but not greasy. The scent? Honeyed heaven. I'm talking endorphin-inducing, post-shower bliss. Kiehl's, you've done it again. There is a reason Kiehl's is the OG. Do yourself a favor- BUY IT. And buy it for all your ladies who love a good body butter.
Heron Hill Lady Of the Lakes Bubbly Rose: $16
I had a break in my day and Remi was down for a nap so I took that opportunity to use our sauna. This is a rare occasion. So I seized the moment. Saunas tend to dehydrate so to quench my thirst I poured my flute with a nice crisp glass of Lady of the Lakes Rose. It's divine. It's charming but not too in your face. The bubbles? Chef's kiss. Heron Hill's newly released Dancing Bear collection is also fantastic. I've tried them all, and honestly, I can't pick a favorite! It's the perfect way to unwind and relax after a long day.
Elin Hilderbrand's Swan Song: $30
This book left me feeling a bit nostalgic because it's the end of an era. Elin is retiring, and I felt like after completing this book, I was closing a chapter. Elin- if you're reading this, it's a chapter I don't want to close...please don't go sniffle. The novel follows Coco, a dedicated employee working for a wealthy couple who recently purchased a mansion on the picturesque island of Nantucket. As Coco navigates the intricacies of her new position and the challenges posed by her demanding employers, the story unfolds with unexpected twists and turns. Elin Hilderbrand's "Swan Song" is a poignant conclusion to her beloved writing career. I will miss Elin's talent as a storyteller and her ability to create unforgettable characters and captivating narratives in the most beautiful of settings. So long, my beach read queen.
Tom Macy Cosmopolitan recipe
Sure, it’s pink and pretty, but don’t let that fool you. The Cosmo is more than just an Instagram-friendly cocktail. One of my favorite drinks- how could I not include in my October picks when it's the flower of October?! It’s a flavor bomb, a perfect balance of sweet, tart, and citrusy. Tom Macy, gives it a major shoutout, and for good reason. It’s a classic. Quality ingredients and precise measurements create a refreshing and sophisticated drink, fit for any occasion. So, next time you see that iconic pink hue, remember, the Cosmopolitan is more than just a pretty face.
Caudalie VinoHydra Deep Hydration Moisturizer: $38
I really like this moisturizer. Forget heavy creams that weigh you down. This stuff is lightweight, sinks in like a dream, and leaves your face with a pretty glow. It's packed with hyaluronic acid, which acts like a moisture magnet for your skin so ditch the dinosaur skin vibes and give this a try!
Sorella Apothecary Grapefruit Polishing Powder: $50
My favorite beauty sisters have done it again. This powerhouse powder isn't your average scrub. It's gentle yet effective and packed with rice bran for oil absorption and a blend of AHA/BHA/enzymatic exfoliants. This powder is perfect for all skin types whether you're oily, dry, or somewhere in between. Trust me- this powder cleanser gives you a microderm treatment right in the comfort of your own home.
